OKUTEEBA is about a group of courageous Ugandan girls who are the first to be admitted to an athletic boarding school in their region. They defy gender norms, leave their families, and are pursuing their dreams of becoming professional football players, and helping their community. Through sacrifice, conviction, and the power of global athletic opportunities, they show the world that girls can do anything.
On April 2023, OKUTEEBA was presented to local high school students in Sarasota to create awareness and a conversation about El Cambio Academy, Far Away Friends, and their dreams as high school students studying in America. We had a premiere film screening along with a fundraiser that helped raise more than $20,000 for Far Away Friends to build a girls' soccer program in Uganda.
